The oceans are the food source for so much of life on Earth and everywhere birds can be seen diving into the oceans, nesting on the most forbidding cliffs and braving the worst of the world's weather.

IMG_3256Isle of Noss, Shetland Island; Gannets:

The sandstone cliffs, laced with honeycomb ledges, towers 81m above the sea-cave below. During breeding season, these ledges are consumed with guillemots, puffins, razorbills & skuas, making it one of the most spectacular breeding colonies in Scotland.

Unfortunately, old fishing line and plastic bags can be seen weaved into the nests of these seabirds. This can entangle the birds leaving them vulnerable to mother nature and natural predators.

Photographs are printed on premium photography paper revealing the clarity and natural colors. Photos can be mounted on 1/16" single weighted mat board.  Custom orders are available - email for details. Orders shipped with 1-day Fed-Ex.

IMG_2177Calabash, North Carolina; Storm Petrel:

Off the coast of North Carolina, storm petrels dance on the turquoise-blue Gulf stream waters.

Early sailors superstitiously called these birds "Mother Carey's Chickens", a latin deviation from Mater Cara, a name for the Blessed Virgin Mary for their foretelling nature of forthcoming bad weather.
